Mythos Cosmology in a Nutshell

I mentioned this model to one of my brothers and he found it really useful as a starting model for beginning Mythos work. The following model uses the six primary Great Old Ones (or rather, three outer gods and three old ones if using the Derleth breakdown) – Azathoth, Yog-Sothoth, Nyarlathotep, Hastur, Shub-Niggurath, and Great Cthulhu.

It goes like this…

Imagine our universe/dimension.

The perimeter of all time and space is YOG-SOTHOTH.

Everything outside of that perimeter is AZATHOTH.

At the very center of Yog-Sothoth’s perimeter is NYARLATHOTEP (as a circle is named by its center).

All generative and ascending patterns are SHUB-NIGGURATH.

All degenerative and descending patterns are HASTUR.

The mythopoetic underpinnings of consciousness and thought are CTHULHU.

Your mileage may vary.
